ALog is a voice diary application that helps you record, transcribe, and summarize your daily thoughts. We are committed to protecting your privacy and being transparent about our data practices.

        In short: We do not collect any personal information. All your voice recordings and diaries are stored locally on your device. The iOS version is fully open source, allowing you to verify our privacy practices.
    

Open Source (iOS)

The iOS version of ALog, including both the client app and server components, is open source. You can inspect the code on GitHub to verify exactly how your data is handled.

Data Collection

We do not collect any personal information. ALog does not collect, store, or transmit any user data to our servers. We do not collect:

Names or email addresses
Voice recordings or transcriptions
Usage analytics or tracking data
Device identifiers

Local Data Storage

All your voice recordings, transcriptions, and summaries are stored locally on your device. This data remains under your full control and can be deleted at any time.

Third-Party Services (OpenAI)

ALog uses OpenAI's API for voice transcription and AI-powered summary generation:

iOS: You can choose to use our open-source server or configure your own OpenAI API key
Android: Requires your own OpenAI API key for direct connection to OpenAI

When using OpenAI services:

Audio files and text are sent to OpenAI for processing
We do not store or have access to this data
Please refer to OpenAI's Privacy Policy for their data handling practices

Data Security

Your API key (if configured) is stored securely using encrypted storage on your device (Keychain on iOS, EncryptedSharedPreferences on Android).

Permissions

ALog requires the following permissions:

Microphone: To record voice memos
Internet: To communicate with OpenAI's API for transcription and summaries

Children's Privacy

ALog is not intended for children under 13 years of age.
